Rwanda and Mexico to host FIBA pre-Qualification tournaments for Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has officially announced that Rwanda and Mexico will serve as hosts for the upcoming pre-qualification tournaments leading to the 2026 Women’s Basketball World Cup.

 Following a competitive bidding process, the Rwandan Basketball Federation and the Mexican Basketball Federation secured the hosting rights for these events, set to take place in the respective capital cities.

Each country will host eight teams, creating a vibrant and competitive atmosphere.

These tournaments, scheduled from August 19 to 25, 2024, will feature a mix of teams, including the 12 nations that participated in the Paris 2024 Olympics and the top 16 teams globally (four from each zone).

The aim for all participating teams will be to earn a spot in the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying Tournaments.

The significance of these tournaments extends beyond the immediate competition, as they mark a crucial step in the journey towards the prestigious Women’s Basketball World Cup.

With top-tier teams from various regions vying for qualification, fans can expect intense matchups and thrilling basketball action.
