Burkina-Faso: The most important points of this weekend’s council of ministers.

The Head of State of the Burkinabe transition, the President of the MPSR, H.E. Captain Ibrahim Traoré, chaired the weekly Council of Ministers on Friday 16 December. During this council, several files were examined. Reports and draft decrees were also adopted.

Indeed, one of the main objectives of the President of the MPSR, Captain Brahim Traoré, after securing the national territory of Burkina Faso, is the development of the economy of Faso through several factors such as agriculture. As a result, the Council of Ministers has acted to dissolve the Deposit and Consignment Fund due to a number of difficulties. According to Minister Aboubacar Nacanabo, this operationalisation will make it possible to settle the social costs linked to the fund’s workers, as well as the commitments made with the service providers.

Thus, as an investment fund that contributes to the implementation of major state projects, instructions were given to the board to set up a team to reflect on the establishment of a more viable fund with new texts that better meet the expectations of the Transitional Government (MPSR). On the agricultural side, the council took a fabulous decision, involving the implementation of a project for training in soilless cultivation that gives priority to the widows of the Defence and Security Forces (FDS), and supply convoy drivers who fell on the battlefield.

The implementation of this government decision will enable the organisation of training in soilless cultivation and irrigation for these women, the main thing being that they will be able to take charge of their own affairs.

Moreover, it is well known that education is a powerful vector for the development of a country, and one of the best ways to reduce poverty, raise health levels, promote gender equality and advance peace and stability. A decision taken by the Burkinabe government on the educational side, the council adopted the decree on the organisation of professional examinations for education personnel on an exceptional basis. The adoption of this decree will allow Faso to further develop the teaching profession. However, it is planned to reclassify education personnel. For this purpose, the government has organised an examination that concerned several families of jobs in education. Joseph André OUEDRAOGO, Minister in charge of education in Burkina-Faso stressed that with this decision, those who are exceptionally eligible are considered as admitted, as they are exempted from the practice.

Other reports from this Friday’s council mention the acquisition of 15 mobile clinics which will contribute to the improvement of the geographical and financial accessibility of the population, especially the most vulnerable groups, to a certain number of specific services. This project had been presented to the previous Council of Ministers, however, has just been approved. In sum, regarding the negative remarks of the Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, on an “alleged contracting out between the transitional government of Burkina Faso (MPSR) and a private Russian company”, the government has sent a note of protest to the Republic of Ghana.
