Burkina Faso: The Bobo-Dioulasso Multimodal Dry Port receives a visit from the Prime Minister, Dr. Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélèm de Tambèla

Dr. Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélèm de Tambèla, the Prime Minister, visited several infrastructures in Bobo-Dioulasso. These included the multimodal dry port, the Sogossira Sanon communal museum, and ADIPROD Industrie, an industrial unit.

The multimodal dry port of Bobo-Dioulasso was the first infrastructure to be visited by Prime Minister Dr. Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélèm de Tambèla.

Built by the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI-BF) on a 120-hectare land and operational since January 2010, the dry port is located in the industrial zone of Bobo-Dioulasso.

Its construction has greatly facilitated the transportation of goods to and from seaports since Bobo-Dioulasso is a hub for commercial exchanges with Mali, Niger, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and various regions of Burkina Faso.

During the visit, the Prime Minister had the opportunity to observe the different infrastructures, as well as the extension and rehabilitation works being carried out at this important platform.

«I was amazed by the dry port in terms of the investments and vision. The prospects are good because we have major projects for the city of Bobo-Dioulasso. We have plans to refurbish the Bobo-Orodara Road, extending it to Mali. This will enhance traffic flow and increase trade. We also have the Bobo-Dioulasso-Sikasso-Bamako railway project, which will further boost the dry port’s traffic and significance. Additionally, there’s the ongoing expansion and modernization of the Bobo-Dioulasso International Airport, which will increase both traffic and the demand for the dry port. We are also negotiating the Ouagadougou-Bobo-Dioulasso highway project», he expressed.

According to him, Bobo-Dioulasso will shine in the coming years. « Bobo-Dioulasso needs to shine so that Burkina Faso, together with Ouagadougou, can move forward. By connecting the two cities, we can easily drive development in that direction», he added.

Next, the Prime Minister visited the Sogossira Sanon communal museum, formerly known as the Houet Provincial Museum. Located in Bolomakoté, this museum is one of the most visited attractions in Bobo-Dioulasso.

Established 33 years ago, the museum’s mission is to collect, promote, value, and inventory all elements of cultural and historical legacy from the Western communities, specifically from Burkina Faso in general, and exhibit them.

During his visit, the Prime Minister was fascinated by the various exhibits in the museum that depict the country’s history.

Following these two infrastructures, the Prime Minister’s footsteps led to ADIPROD Industrie, an oil mill serving local production.

The company specializes in processing shea nuts and oilseeds (sesame, cotton, soybeans, peanuts, etc.) into shea butter and edible oil.

The Prime Minister also commended the achievements of this industrial unit. «I can see that this company has a vision, especially regarding the quality of its products. It is an example of a successful Burkina Faso. I am very proud of the company’s management and extend my congratulations to them», he emphasized.

He urged Burkinabè people to consume the products that will come out of this factory because, for him, instead of consuming imported goods, its better to consume our own products.« Thus, we will encourage entrepreneurs who can expand their businesses and create more employment opportunities. It is Burkina Faso that will shine», stated Kyélèm de Tambèla.

Furthermore, he emphasized that anything is possible for the people of Burkina Faso. “One must be perseverant and believe in their dreams. We have confidence in the future of our country,” he reiterated.
