Central African Republic: Increase in fuel prices, a hold-up by the Central African State against its people.

In the end, the Central African State is struggling to find solutions to replenish its coffers. A month earlier, the Minister of Finance, Mr Hervé NDOBA, announced that the state coffers were empty. Subsequently, the Minister of Communication, Mr Serge DJORIE, implied in an interview that this statement by the Minister of Finance was a trap to find out who the real enemies of the Central African Republic are.

A few weeks later, the lie caught up with the Central African State with an order to increase the price of petroleum products at the pump. This extraordinary increase is nothing more than a hold-up against the Central African population. Petrol is going to 1300 FCFA instead of 800 FCFA, diesel is going to 1450 FCFA instead of 650 FCFA and finally, oil is going to 1150 FCFA. An increase explains and confirms the words of the Minister of Finance, who says that “the state coffers are empty”.

In a word, this increase is a way for the Central African State to asphyxiate the Central African population, which is already living in extreme poverty, to contribute in order to replenish the State’s coffers.

Is the Central African State lacking in strategies? Does President TOUADERA have no more solutions, to the point of making a hold-up to his population?

Meanwhile, a mafia is on the march in the Central African Republic, with phenomena of embezzlement, without the Central African President lifting a finger, since he is also cited as being the sponsor of this mafia.

Let us recall that in neighbouring Sudan, the increase in the price of bread caused the fall of former president Omar El Bechir, while in the Central African Republic, by increasing the price of petroleum products by about 75%, did President TOUADERA not declare war on his people? Like a déjà vu, it is the same anger of the people that led to the fall of the dictator Omar El Bechir in 2019, who has been in power for three decades, that seems to be refining itself in the Central African Republic.

“Our situation here is very serious, we have no economy. Currently, we can’t even talk about projects because the country is dry and as if that wasn’t enough, the government is hitting us with increases here and there, enough is enough,” laments Junior, a young motorbike taxi driver in Bangui.

Without knowing it, the Head of State has decided to push the Central African people into the abyss with these increases. Nowadays, petroleum products are the basis of all socio-economic activities. The Central African people must expect an increase in the cost of bread, transport, the household basket etc…

According to the voices that have been raised ever since the publication of this decree worthy of a science fiction film fan, fixing the exorbitant increase in the price of petroleum products, is TOUADERA the next El Bechir?

Are the Central African people taking responsibility?

The future will tell us!
