Burkina Faso: Back to Putin’s invitation to his counterpart Ibrahim Traoré.

The Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Me Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem de Tambèla, granted an exclusive interview, during his stay in Moscow, to RT France, the Russian international news channel.

During this interview, he confided that he had received an invitation from President Putin for Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Faso, to participate in the next Russia-Africa summit scheduled for 2023. “If I am here, it is to strengthen relations between Burkina Faso and Russia, so there is no reason why we should not come to this summit,” the head of the Burkinabe government said.

As for the purpose of his visit, he explained that it is motivated by a desire to strengthen cooperation ties between his country and Russia. “At present, relations between Moscow and Ouagadougou are not very advanced,” said Mr Kyélem de Tambèla, who would like to see these relations strengthened further.

“Russia is a great nation, whereas it is practically non-existent in Burkina Faso. So we would like Russia to take its rightful place as a great nation in our country,” said the Burkinabe Prime Minister.

For the Head of the Burkinabe Executive, Russia has a history and experience that it could share with Burkina Faso. “What we want is to strengthen cooperation relations in all possible areas,” he said.

He also expressed his wish to see more Russian products on Burkinabe soil, which he said would be a means of competition for everyone and improvement for the benefit of the competition. “Our objective is not that someone comes to replace someone else, but it is always to have more in order to have more options,” explained the head of the Transitional Government.
