Togo: The education sector continues to be a priority for President Faure Gnassingbé

In recent years, the education sector has become a significant priority for President Faure Gnassingbé, evident in various reforms implemented by the government. Furthermore, this year’s projected budget (191 billion FCFA) for the Ministry of Education reaffirms the Togolese government’s ongoing commitment to improving basic education for Togolese students. In line with these efforts, President Faure Gnassingbé and his Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dodzi Kokoroko, have announced the establishment of a National Learning Assessment Center (CNEA).

According to the decree establishing this center, the CNEA is an institutional and technical body tasked with enhancing the quality of learning.

Its mission involves managing standardized assessment mechanisms at both national and international levels, regularly evaluating learners and institutions to ensure a continuous improvement in the quality of education provided.

The center will be responsible for «identifying needs, periodically monitoring academic achievements in line with the national assessment framework, coordinating participation in sub-regional, regional, and international assessments, as well as conducting secondary studies and analyses».

This initiative, spearheaded by President Faure Gnassingbé, adds to the numerous reforms initiated in the education sector, aiming to transform it into an environment where the potential of learners and educators is valued.
