Niger/Preparations for the start of the new school year, 2023-2024: the authorities send almost 500 tonnes of supplies to certain regions

Following the delivery of a large consignment by air to the regions of Agadez and Diffa, the Minister for National Education, Elisabeth Shérif, coordinated the departure from Niamey on Thursday 28 September of several lorries loaded with almost 500 tonnes of school supplies for less remote regions.

Other stocks of school supplies will follow shortly, to enable pupils to study in good conditions, according to the government.

This represents a commitment by the country’s new authorities to provide schools with the resources they need to resume classes on 2 October 2023.

The batches of supplies are specifically intended for the regions of Maradi, Tahoua and Dosso.

Preparations for the start of the new school year are thus drawing to a close, and the resumption of classes for the 2023-2023 academic year has been confirmed.

According to Niger’s transitional government, all measures will be taken to ensure a peaceful school year.
