Manchester City’s Jack Grealish fined for speeding violation

Footballer Jack Grealish, known for his performances with England and Manchester City, faced consequences for speeding recently.

The 28-year-old was fined £666 for driving at 44mph in a 30mph zone, as recorded by a mobile camera on Station Road, Wythall, Worcestershire, while he was behind the wheel of a Range Rover Sport on July 17, 2023.

Despite not appearing in court, Grealish pleaded guilty through his barrister. Magistrates in Worcester imposed five penalty points on him along with the fine.

Additionally, he was ordered to cover court costs of £110 and a victim surcharge of £266, totaling £1,042.

Grealish’s barrister, John Dye, clarified that the footballer acknowledged his mistake and apologized on his behalf.

Dye mentioned that Grealish’s absence in person was not meant to show disrespect.

The charge regarding failing to provide information to the police regarding the driver’s identity was dropped.

The fine, originally set at £1,000 but reduced due to the guilty plea, was within Grealish’s means to pay.
