Burkina Faso: Protesters in the streets of Ouagadougou after a rumor of destabilization of the power in place

In Ouagadougou, the Place de la Nation is again occupied by protesters Monday, November 28, 2022, who came out to support the President of the transition, Ibrahim Traoré after rumors of a coup ‘état. According to one protester, their action aims to “secure Captain Ibrahim Traoré”.

In the dynamics of a transition that evolves in the rules of the art thanks to the wisdom, dynamism, and sense of patriotism of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré and his Government, the country once again resumes with demonstrations.

A crazy rumor fueled by the web about a coup d’état that is being prepared against President Ibrahim Traoré, has pushed protesters into the streets of Ouagadougou.

Shouts of “No to the coup”, the demonstrators say they are demanding the departure of the France and the maintenance in power of Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

“We went out, because we saw on the web that there would be a coup d’état being prepared, against our President. We go out to secure Captain Ibrahim Traoré. When the president’s life is threatened, we will go out,” said one protester.

Boly Moumini, meanwhile, another protester and secretary of the Pan-African Leaders’ Collectives, made it clear that their presence this morning on the scene follows a rumor of an attempt to destabilize the country.

It is in fact an audio reporting an attempted coup d’état, against Captain Ibrahim Traoré, circulating on social networks in Burkina Faso since Sunday, November 27, which mobilized the demonstration in support of the President of the transition, denouncing that “the enemy uses social networks to manipulate people”.

According to the audio, the financial arm of this umpteenth attempt to destabilize power, would be an economic operator of the country.

In any case, the young people expressed their firm support for their Head of State and his government which, it should be remembered, are the real actors of a democratic transition process on a very good track.

These rumors, even if they come “only to sow panic”, is a test situation of the mobilization of Burkinabè behind their President.

“In Africa, it is very often said that there is no smoke without fire. Coup d’état in a coup d’état, in another coup d’état, we do not want it, “hammered, Souleymane Ouédraogo, a demonstrator at the Place de la Nation who still maintains that their presence on the scene is to “dissuade the critics of Captain Ibrahim Traoré”.
