Morocco: Moroccan players welcomed as heroes.

They have made history by winning the 4th place in the World Cup-2022. The Moroccan team received, Tuesday in Rabat, a welcome worthy of its performance, ovation by tens of thousands of supporters.

The Moroccan fans were there to welcome their national heroes. The Atlas Lions returned to Morocco on Tuesday 20 December to a standing ovation from hundreds of thousands of fans in the capital Rabat, after an incredible epic that took them to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar. A dense, joyful crowd of all ages and backgrounds lined the route of the red double-decker bus on which Walid Regragui’s men were perched from the airport to the avenues in the centre of the Moroccan capital in the late afternoon.

“I came to celebrate the beautiful history of Morocco in the World Cup, even if some decisions of the referees were not fair,” said Adam Najah, 27, a waiter in a restaurant who came on purpose from Meknes, more than 150 km from Rabat, to “live this historic day”.

“I am proud of the national team. Who knows? I’m proud of the national team. Who knows, maybe we’ll win the cup next time,” he said.
