Burkina Faso / Embezzlement of 600 million: When enemies slip another banana skin under the regime’s feet in vain.

Since taking office, the MPSR of President Ibrahim Traoré seems to have decided to take the bull by the horns to clean up the management of public funds. He has met with members of the various entities concerned and has been clear and firm in his statements.

Corruption is a plague on the fragile economies of developing countries. It is practised in a variety of forms and is becoming increasingly institutionalised. The fight against corruption is therefore a major challenge for Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s MPSR, which is putting in place the best provisions for the proper management of public resources.

Despite this, some people who benefited from the corruption, embezzlement and other aspects of the system of the former president Damiba’s regime, enemies of stability, peace and development of Burkina Faso, animated by hateful desires to tarnish the image of the MPSR of His Excellency Ibrahim Traoré, still find the courage to spit their venom on the MPSR regime, which has been hailed by all observers for the work it has accomplished in all areas in such a short time.

How can one want one thing and its opposite? This is the question being asked by thousands of Burkinabe internet users who are protesting against the slander, defamation, and misleading statements of hatred and manipulation by certain idle individuals who are enemies of peace, at a time when the entire population aspires to security stability and development.

While President Traoré is looking for ways and means to reconquer the entire national territory, in order to allow everyone to live in a just, equitable and peaceful society, a group of mentally unstable individuals have been trying for some time to slip banana peels under his feet. Their strategy is to use manipulation to sabotage these efforts.

The detractors of President Ibrahim Traoré who are now insinuating that he has embezzled a certain amount of money intended for the acquisition of rolling stock were where Damiba was when he was squandering the country’s resources to offer himself a life of luxury, thus abandoning the Burkinabe soldiers to their sad fate in the fight against terrorism.

Also, if one must ask questions about this story of embezzlement, the question should be asked since Damiba’s regime, on the traceability of the money, the authorization that allowed the disbursement of such a sum, and others, instead of procrastinating by throwing opprobrium on a regime, which since taking office, has done nothing but work to give back to the people of the country of men of integrity, its sovereignty, its stability, its well-being and its development through reforms all these ills.

What can we say about ex-president Damiba, who had increased his salary and that of his collaborators excessively, instead of thinking of financing the fight against terrorism. In contrast to His Excellency Ibrahim Traoré, who has worked to reduce the salaries of ministers and renounced his own salary as Head of State, for the supreme interest, i.e. the fight against terrorism.

It is incomprehensible that a president would entrust such a large fund to an army officer without putting in place a system of traceability and transparent management. Why has Colonel Damiba not demanded accountability and never lifted the veil on this matter if it was a proven fact? All these questions remain unanswered and deserve to be pondered by every Burkinabe citizen. All of this is just window dressing.

The people of Burkina Faso must remain vigilant and refrain from giving in to these defamatory messages of slander, without source or foundation, which only aim to demobilise citizens engaged in the fight against terrorist threats.
