Burkina-Faso: Laying of the foundation stone for the National Armed Forces uniform factory

Burkina Faso is on the brink of establishing its first-ever military uniform manufacturing plant, marking a significant milestone for this Sahelian country, which is the second-largest cotton producer in Africa and has recently prioritized increasing local processing of its raw materials.

The Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, continues his country’s industrialization policy.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, he laid the foundation stone for the construction of a military clothing manufacturing plant.

This initiative is part of an ongoing industrialization process aimed at “transforming everything we produce,” as stated by Captain Traoré during the ceremony.

Named TEXFORCES-BF, this plant addresses a crucial need, especially in the context of heightened security challenges.

For the transitional authorities, establishing this plant is a step towards reducing dependence on external sources for certain needs and cutting down state expenditures. «For years, we’ve been spending tens of billions of FCFA abroad to dress our defense and security forces», Captain Ibrahim Traoré emphasized.

The establishment of this industrial unit will also boost economic growth and facilitate job creation.

It’s worth noting that on February 7, 2024, following a council of ministers meeting, the transitional government decreed the creation of a military clothing manufacturing plant.

The plant is located in Logofoursso, just outside Bobo-Dioulasso, on the Orodara road.
