Burkina-Faso: Human Rights Watch report/Angry people call on transitional government to end diplomatic relations with the United States

In Burkina Faso, discontent is brewing among the population following the joint declaration by the United States and the United Kingdom following the misleading report from Human Rights Watch accusing the Burkinabe army. In protest against this action by the Americans, the angry people staged a sit-in outside the US Embassy in Ouagadougou.

On the placards held by the protesters, one could read, «We, the sovereign people of Burkina Faso, demand that you leave our territory and focus on Gaza and Ukraine».

This demonstration in support of the transition is evidence of the unwavering support of the Burkinabe people behind President Ibrahim Traoré’s government.

The demonstration comes after the transition summoned the Chargé d’Affaires at the American Embassy in Burkina Faso and denounced Washington’s destabilizing attitude.

The demonstrators echoed the government’s stance and cried out about a conspiracy against Burkina. «This hasty publication, without waiting for the results of the investigation conducted by our country’s independent judiciary, aims to implement a plan to destabilize our revolution, our people, as they are accustomed to doing», said the spokesperson for the demonstrators.

Chanting “IB President,” the people also called for the permanent suspension of BBC and VOA media outlets and the permanent closure of the Human Rights Watch website in Burkina.
