Burkina Faso: A Burkinabe inventor revolutionises agriculture with his multipurpose huller

El Hadj Issouf Bangré Korgho, a self-taught man from Burkina Faso, has designed a revolutionary multi-purpose machine capable of husking and threshing a variety of cereals such as rice, maize, sorghum, millet, beans and soya.

Despite his illiteracy, Korgho is the creative mind behind a number of agricultural machines, ranging from huskers to groundnut blowers, livestock feed grinders, gas roasters, grinder-mixers, maize shellers and many others.

Its latest invention, the multi-purpose huller, is capable of processing several tonnes of different cereals, with the exception of sesame.

One of the impressive features of this machine is its versatility, operating both with simple engines available on the market and with tractors via a shaft connection designed by Korgho itself.

When connected to a tractor, the huller can thresh or husk several tonnes of rice or maize in a matter of hours.

This innovation marks a significant advance in the agricultural sector in Burkina Faso and is a testament to the inventive genius of El Hadj Issouf Bangré Korgho, who, despite his lack of formal training, continues to make a significant contribution to the development of agriculture in his country.
