Nollywood Week: Celebrating African Cinema excellence in Paris

In the feature film category, the movie «Sistà» directed by Biodun Stephen won both the jury and audience awards. This 94-minute film paying tribute to single mothers achieved a double win, standing out even more as the director had previously won the Audience Award at the 2023 edition of the festival.

Adding to the accolades, special mention goes to actor David Ézékiel for his role in the film “La Traversée Sauvage” and to Ifeoma Nkiruka Chukwuogo for her portrayal of Kirukah in the movie “Dynamite” directed by Nigerian filmmaker Uche Aguh.

In the short film category, the British film “The Perfect Knight” directed by Stephané Alexandre received the jury prize.

Thus, two women dominated the awards at the 2024 Nollywood Week.

Nollywood Week is a film festival organized by the association Okada Media, based in France and led by Serge Noukoué and Nadira Shakur.

The co-founders have been promoting African cinema globally for a decade and launched the first edition of Nollywood Week in Paris in 2013.

The annual Nollywood Week film festival, held in spring, aims to introduce French audiences to Nigerian and African cinema.

It also serves as a forum for discussion and networking around the key challenges and opportunities in the African film landscape, featuring masterclasses, Q&A sessions, and opportunities to meet production and distribution experts.
