Togo: Social dialogue to begin soon, renewed government commitment to social inclusion and harmony

In line with President Faure Gnassingbé’s vision, the Togolese government has embarked on extensive social programs aimed at social inclusion in the country. Already working to consolidate these achievements, the government has announced the upcoming holding of a social dialogue with workers in Togo.

On the occasion of the celebration of Labor Day on May 1st, the government, represented by the Minister of Labor and Civil Service Gilbert Bawara, discussed with workers the major issues of social dialogue.

This meeting between the labor minister, trade unions, and employers’ organizations allowed for discussions on the challenges and modalities of the imminent social dialogue.

It is intended to contribute to the preservation of social peace in the country by strengthening dialogue between the government, unions, and employers on one hand, and improving the living conditions of workers on the other.

Thus, the upcoming national discussions between the government and workers will focus on issues such as Universal Health Insurance (UHI) and social security, with the aim of improving the well-being of Togolese workers.

Through this, President Faure Gnassingbé’s government reaffirms its commitment to promoting dialogue as a means of conflict resolution, strengthening social inclusion and harmony, and consolidating peace.
