TOGO/ OTR: Togolese customs pledges strong commitment to collaborative partnerships

The Togolese Customs, represented by the Togolese Revenue Office (OTR), celebrated International Customs Day (ICD) on Friday, marked by an exchange meeting with customs partners under the theme «Towards a Customs Mobilizing Its Historical and New Partners around Clear Objectives».

The aim of the meeting was to explore ways to pool efforts to achieve the development goals set by the government.

The event highlighted the new orientations of the World Customs Organization (WCO) towards customs worldwide.

Togo Customs has decided to strengthen existing partnerships, establish new collaborations with a variety of stakeholders, and promote diversity and inclusivity in its engagements.

Colonel Agoro Medjessiribi, Technical Advisor to the General Commissioner of OTR, led the discussions on «Achieving clear Customs objectives through Partnership Development» and «Sharing experience of partnership with customs and perspectives».

«To achieve the expected objectives, Togo Customs, like its counterparts worldwide, must strengthen ties with existing partners by analyzing their needs. It is also necessary to establish new partnerships with various stakeholders to bring innovative perspectives and collaborate on goals aligned with the customs mission», stated Colonel Agoro Medjessiribi.

OTR commits to this new vision of the WCO, affirming that the organization remains crucial for customs administrations to continue playing their role as facilitators of global trade and guarantors of security in an ever-evolving environment.

Atta-Kakra Essien, Commissioner of Customs and Indirect Taxes, representing the Minister of Economy and Finance, commended the work of the men and women of Togo Customs, particularly in the economic and security spheres.

He encouraged OTR to further engage in supporting the government’s efforts towards sustainable development.
