NBA Africa expands reach with new office in Kenya: A “slam dunk” for Basketball Development

NBA Africa is embarking on a new chapter with the establishment of a subsidiary in Kenya, marking its fifth office on the continent alongside Cairo, Dakar, Johannesburg, and Lagos. Based in Nairobi, this new office aims to support all business and basketball development initiatives within the league. Michael Finley, Senior Director and Country Operations Lead for NBA Kenya, will spearhead this venture.

To commemorate this expansion, this Institution organized a Jr. NBA camp in Nairobi, bringing together 70 boys and girls aged 16 and under.

The event featured the presence of five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, NBA Africa CEO Victor Williams, and Basketball Africa League President Amadou Gallo Thiam.

Victor Williams underscored the significance of the new office, stating, «The launch of our Nairobi office speaks to the tremendous potential of basketball and the NBA in Kenya and across East Africa».

This expansion reflects the NBA’s ongoing commitment to promote and develop basketball throughout the African continent.

“I have been involved in the Kenyan basketball community for many years and have witnessed firsthand the passion for this game here. I am thrilled to lead the new office and look forward to expanding our footprint in the region, making a positive impact on communities nationwide by creating new opportunities for young people to play the game and for fans to engage with the NBA” added Finley.
