Inauguration of the Tokabby Industry plant in Mali: A historic milestone in water treatment in West Africa

On December 7th, the Tokabby Industry plant, specializing in the production of water treatment chemicals, was inaugurated in the Dialakorobougou industrial zone in Mali.

With an investment of approximately FCFA 2 billion, this groundbreaking facility, the first of its kind in the sub-region, is strategically positioned to supply water management companies across multiple countries.

Among its clientele are Somagep-SA in Mali, Soges in Senegal, Onea in Burkina Faso, SEEN in Niger, and Sodeci-SA in Côte d’Ivoire.

The inauguration ceremony, officiated by the Minister of Industry and Trade, saw the participation of representatives from various companies and government entities.

Boasting a production capacity of 40 tonnes per day, the plant aims to address the escalating demand for accessible drinking water in the region.

Yaya Yattassaye, the associate promoter, underscored that this initiative aligns with the Transition authorities’ directive to promote national businesses and fortify the country’s economic foundation.

Certified with NSF-ANSI/CAN 60, the Tokabby Industry plant ensures a safety stock, contributing to the nation’s sovereignty in water treatment.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has commended this endeavour and committed to supporting the plant in quality assurance, combatting fraud and unfair competition, and trade promotion.

Additionally, the plant is anticipated to have a positive ripple effect on employment rates, tax revenues, and a reduction in the importation of chemical products for water treatment.

This inauguration marks a historic leap forward in advancing water treatment capabilities in West Africa.
