Gabon: Environmental Commitment of Transition President Oligui Nguema in Dubai

Transition President Oligui Nguema is representing Gabon at the COP28 (28th Conference of the Parties on Climate), taking place from November 29 to December 4, 2023, in the United Arab Emirates. In the fight against deforestation, Gabon actively engages in crucial discussions on environmental protection.

President Oligui Nguema’s presence, alongside numerous heads of state and government, underscores Gabon’s dedication to global environmental issues.

The 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28), initiated on November 30 in Dubai, addresses major themes, including the development of aid funds, increased involvement of developing nations, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and accelerating the energy transition.

This environmental commitment echoes President Oligui Nguema’s recent contributions during the first Africa-Saudi Arabia Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in early November.

His participation in these international events highlights the determination of Gabon’s new leader to play a leading role in African environmental concerns, actively participating in crucial international negotiations.

Through these initiatives, Gabon reaffirms its commitment to environmental protection, demonstrating its willingness to positively influence global policies and promote sustainable management of natural resources.
