Burkina-Faso / Valuation of property liabilities: A digital data collection platform now available

The launch of a digital platform for data collection on acquired plots and properties from former private real estate developers marked a significant step by the inter-ministerial committee for assessing real estate liabilities and private real estate promotion on March 12, 2024.

From March 12 to March 22, 2024, individuals who have acquired such properties are encouraged to provide relevant information.

Comprising officials from the Ministry of Land Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, and the Ministry of Territorial Administration, the international committee, established on August 18, is tasked with assessing plots and other real estate acquired from private real estate developers since 2008.

Delwendé Maxime Tiendrebeogo, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Urbanism, highlighted that the platform is open to «anyone who has acquired a plot or property with a previously accredited real estate developer or housing cooperative».

Acquirers who have obtained real estate from landowners, previous buyers, or through compensation or donation are also urged to provide relevant information about their properties.

The requested details include documentation pertaining to the plot or property, its size, cost, the name of the real estate promotion company or housing cooperative, and the infrastructure status of the site, among other specifications.
