In Togo, electrification is being extended to the Savanes, Kara and Plateaux regions. Faure Gnassingbé promised it, and it’s happening!

Under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, Togo is setting ambitious goals in the field of national electrification. Through dynamic leadership and effective coordination of the government, led by Minister Mila Aziablé, the country is making significant progress in this area, particularly in the regions of Savanes, Kara, and Plateaux.

According to recently released data by the minister, the electrification rate in the Savanes region increased from 22% to 33% between 2022 and 2023.

Similarly, the Kara region saw an improvement, rising from 35% to 44% coverage during the same period.

The Plateaux region also experienced notable growth, with coverage increasing from 29% to 39%.

These achievements are largely attributed to the positive impact of the Tinga Fund, benefiting over 42,000 households and nearly 300,000 individuals, according to Minister Aziablé’s estimates.

The extension of these programs to the Central region also promises to expand access to electricity for its inhabitants.

A recent project to strengthen energy distribution capacity was launched in this region, with targeted initiatives in urban and peri-urban areas such as Dapaong, Kara, Sokodé, Atakpamé, Kpalimé, and Aného.

These initiatives include the installation of 34 km of medium-voltage networks, the construction of 61 MT/BT distribution substations, and the establishment of 360 km of low-voltage networks.

These efforts reflect President Faure Gnassingbé’s determination to achieve universal electrification in Togo by 2030, while demonstrating his commitment to sustainable development and improving the well-being of all Togolese citizens.
