Burkina Faso: Promoting the teaching profession for quality education.

Human capital is a country’s primary resource. With this in mind, President Traoré and the government intend to invest in this first wealth available to the country to initiate the process towards sustainable development in all areas. Thus, given that education is the driving force, the guarantee of human development and the integral transformation of society, the Burkinabe leaders devote particular attention to it. Efforts in favour of this sector are also directed towards the actors of the education system, in particular the teaching profession, who deserve special treatment in order to provide efficient and palpable results.
It is with this in mind that the Council of Ministers held Friday, December 16, 2022 in the capital Ouagadougou examined, among other decisions, examined and adopted a decree on the organization by way of derogation of professional examinations of education personnel.

“As part of the enhancement of the teaching profession, it is planned a reclassification of education staff and for this we organized an examination that concerned several families of jobs,” said the Minister of National Education, Literacy and Promotion of National Languages, Joseph André OUEDRAOGO.

The report communicated by the Minister specifies that with this decision, “those eligible on an exceptional basis, are considered admitted, because exempted from the practice”.
The commitment of the Burkinabe executive to re-evaluate the teaching profession will promote the improvement of educational performance. As a reminder, the government put in place a few weeks ago, an action plan to guarantee education for all and particularly targeting children targeting in the areas most affected by terrorism.

Called “National Strategy for Education in Emergencies (SN-ESU 2019-2024)”, it allows the collection of data and the implementation of actions aimed at the care of internally displaced students.

“This strategy also integrates distance learning through radio and television, the profiling of 100,000 children for their return to school and the optimal use of educational infrastructure,” according to a government statement.
