Burkina Faso/ICT: The emergence of technology in the country is one of the authorities’ priorities

The advancement of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) stands as a paramount objective for Burkina Faso’s leadership. In pursuit of this goal, they have forged a strategic partnership with Huawei, a global leader in telecommunications and information technology.

This collaboration has sparked transformative projects aimed at empowering the Burkinabe populace and fostering the digital economy.

Notably, plans include the comprehensive training of 5,000 young Burkinabe individuals in cutting-edge ICT fields such as 5G, cloud computing, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Spearheaded by Huawei’s leadership in Burkina Faso, in tandem with the Burkinabe Ministry overseeing digital transition, this initiative holds immense promise for the nation’s technological future.

Moreover, the partnership entails the development of critical ICT infrastructure, including the installation of over 2,000 kilometers of fiber optic networks across Burkina Faso.

This infrastructure will serve to bridge connectivity gaps between regions, facilitating seamless communication and bolstering administrative efficiency.

The official announcement of these groundbreaking initiatives followed a pivotal meeting on March 22, 2024, between Burkina Faso’s transitional president, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, and Huawei Burkina’s Managing Director, Christophe Liu.

It’s noteworthy that this collaboration extends beyond ICT, encompassing vital sectors such as urban security and rural electrification, reflecting a holistic approach to national development.
