Burkina Faso/Fight against desertification: Captain Ibrahim Traoré calls for strong mobilization

The fight against desertification is going on in the country of Captain Ibrahim Traoré. Under the leadership of the President of the Burkinabe Revolution, Burkina Faso is fully committed to restoring its forest cover. In its fifth edition, this year’s reforestation campaign, which involves all stakeholders, is part of the National Tree Day. Under the patronage of the President of the Burkinabe Revolution, the reforestation campaign was officially launched on July 15, 2023, with tree planting operations in the Cascades region.

This fifth edition of the National Tree Day was held under the theme «Trees, a symbol of community resilience in an insecure context».

For this year, 1,350 seedlings of about fifteen species, including baobab, roasting trees, and moringa, were planted.

The objective of the National Tree Day is to generate a general mobilization of all socio-professional groups for the restoration of forests and degraded lands.

These highly civic actions reflect the determination of the President of the Burkinabe Revolution, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, to significantly increase the national forest coverage and effectively combat climate change.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré calls on his compatriots to do the same in order to achieve a greater forest cover and fight against desertification.

The Minister of Agriculture, Animal and Fishery Resources, Ismaël SOMBIE, also adhered to this objective. According to Minister SOMBIE, trees are an important symbol of the future and hope.

« When we plant a tree, we must water it and watch it grow. This signifies that this population has faith in the future of our nation and is committed to resilience so that our country can regain tranquility», he stated, inviting the population to plant trees to contribute to creating a healthy environment.
