Burkina Faso: BCEAO renews its commitment to the country of Captain Ibrahim Traoré: Der Rogatien Poda affirms unconditional support

The Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) is reported to have shifted its stance by aligning with the cause championed by President Ibrahim Traoré, expressing renewed commitment to Burkina Faso and other member states. Der Rogatien Poda, Vice-Governor of BCEAO, emphasized in a statement in Ouagadougou that BCEAO has a «seasoned army of professionals» ready to support any member states, including Burkina Faso.

Poda underscored BCEAO’s role as a financial advisor to member states, stating that the institution is equipped with experienced professionals in various fields such as macroeconomic, monetary, and financial aspects.

He highlighted BCEAO’s readiness to provide assistance to member states in accordance with its founding texts.

As a native of Burkina Faso, Poda expressed his joy at the prospect of closely monitoring any assistance his country might seek.

He emphasized that BCEAO would be moved by a spontaneous initiative to support Burkina Faso, emphasizing the importance of fair support to all states.

Poda also mentioned that BCEAO’s support for Burkina Faso is already evident through several mechanisms.

He cited the aggregation of programs from different states to establish a common monetary program for all states, thereby facilitating currency issuance on behalf of these states.

The existence of a national agency of BCEAO in Burkina Faso was highlighted as an essential channel to receive the country’s needs and identify all situations requiring assistance.

Poda assured that all necessary assistance would be provided to Burkina Faso.
