Côte d’Ivoire has reached out to Burkina Faso for a meeting aimed at forging a new path in bilateral cooperation between the two nations. This request was met with full acceptance by Burkinabe authorities, leading to a fruitful meeting held on Friday in Niangologo, resulting in mutual satisfaction.

Representatives from both countries, including Ivory Coast’s Minister of State for Defense, Téné Birahima Ouattara, and Brigadier General Kassoum Coulibaly, discussed priority areas of cooperation, focusing on economic, cultural, and security sectors.

Concrete action plans were outlined to enhance  bilateral cooperation ties between the two nations and promote mutual development.

A key highlight of the meeting was the commitment to bolster relations in combating terrorism in the sub-region and addressing illicit activities along their shared border.

Enhanced cooperation mechanisms in security matters were discussed to better monitor and control suspicious movements along the border. Joint efforts will be made to exchange information and coordinate actions to prevent terrorist activities and illicit trafficking.

Burkina Faso, known for its culture of peace and hospitality, stands ready to warmly welcome neighboring countries sharing common goals in current challenges.

Committed to defending its sovereignty, Burkina Faso does so without compromising the freedom of its sister nations.
