Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Burkina Faso, a significant decision was made during the Council of Ministers meeting regarding the renaming of public universities in Fada N’Gourma, Ouahigouya, and Dédougou.

These universities will now bear the names of esteemed Burkinabe personalities, selected for their inspiring contributions to society.

This decision goes beyond local boundaries, reflecting a national acknowledgment.

Fada N’Gourma University will be known as «Yembila-Abdoulaye-TOGUYENI University», honoring a notable figure devoted to education and community progress.

Ouahigouya University’s new name, «Lédéa-Bernard-OUEDRAOGO University», recognizes exceptional achievements in research and teaching.

Similarly, Dédougou University is now named «Daniel-Ouezzin-COULIBALY University» in tribute to a distinguished scholar whose work has profoundly impacted Burkina Faso’s intellectual landscape.

These changes signify not just respect for these influential individuals but also a commitment to academic excellence  in Burkina Faso and the nation’s socio-economic advancement.
