Togo:  Economic reforms earn Joint endorsement from AfDB and IMF

The joint satisfaction expressed by the African Development Bank and the International Monetary Fund underscores the excellence of the structural reforms and rigorous governance championed by the Head of Government, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé.

Under the high impetus of the President of the Council, Togo has made courageous choices, prioritizing a deep cleanup of the macroeconomic framework and accelerating far-reaching structural reforms.

This fiscal discipline, combined with an unwavering clarity of direction, secured the green light from the Bretton Woods institutions, materialized through the highly positive conclusions of the latest IMF review.

While other economies in the sub-region bear the full brunt of global headwinds, Togo demonstrates a doctoral resilience the direct result of its leader’s long-term vision.

By anchoring institutional rigor at the heart of public action, the Head of Government has transformed structural challenges into leverage for opportunities, fostering a climate of mutual trust with the most demanding multilateral partners.

The strategic partnership between the AfDB and the Togolese Republic is now embodied by substantial figures: an active portfolio of 26 major projects representing a total commitment of 327.36 billion CFA francs.

Far from being a mere technical allocation of capital, these large-scale investments precisely reflect the sectoral priorities set by the President of the Council for the next five years.

Whether in energy sovereignty, agricultural modernization, or the deployment of major logistics infrastructure, every franc invested is rigorously aligned with the Government Roadmap’s priorities.

This roadmap the Head of Government’s true economic compass ensures that AfDB interventions remain fully aligned with the inclusive growth and social development ambitions championed by the executive.

The formal commitment of the Bank to optimize execution quality, accelerate disbursements, and reduce operational delays testifies to its complete confidence in the state apparatus  of Togo and its execution capacity.

Beyond accounting aggregates, the  visit of AfDB President carried significant diplomatic weight.

Sidi Ould Tah expressed profound gratitude to Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé for his valuable support both personal and political to his candidacy and to the Bank Group.
