Announcement of the establishment of the New Sudan News Agency (NSNA)
The New Sudan News Agency (NSNA) is preparing to officially announce its launch in mid-September 2026, in a move aimed at establishing a modern national news platform built on professional journalism and digital technologies. The agency seeks to expand the presence of Sudanese news and present the country’s stories to domestic and international audiences through a new media vision.
At the center of the agency’s project is Dr. Osama Ahmed El-Mustafa, President of the New Sudan News Agency, who is leading the establishment process and the development of its editorial and operational structures. His vision seeks to move journalism beyond simply reporting events toward producing knowledge, analyzing facts, and placing developments within their political, economic, and social contexts.
According to its stated vision, the NSNA project is based on building a broad national media network comprising correspondents, editors, writers, analysts, experts, and researchers across Sudan’s different regions.
This network is intended to enable the agency to report events from local sources and highlight the concerns and experiences of Sudanese communities beyond the traditional concentration on the capital.
Dr. Osama El-Mustafa believes that building a modern national news agency requires more than a newsroom or a network of correspondents. It requires an integrated system capable of collecting information, verifying facts, and transforming them into reliable content that serves policymakers, researchers, media professionals, and the public.
The agency plans to employ artificial intelligence, data analysis, digital journalism, and multimedia production in news gathering, editorial operations, content production, and distribution. At the same time, it emphasizes that speed in publishing must remain closely linked to verification, accuracy, and credibility.
The NSNA project places Dr. Osama El-Mustafa at the center of an ambitious effort to establish a media institution capable of operating according to contemporary news-agency standards, while developing a model that combines breaking news, reporting, analysis, research, and multimedia content
The initiative comes at a time when Sudan’s media landscape faces significant challenges, including competing narratives, the rapid circulation of unverified information, and difficulties in accessing independent sources in areas affected by conflict and crises. These circumstances underscore the importance of institutions capable of verifying information and presenting it within a professional journalistic framework.
Under the vision led by El-Mustafa, the agency will seek to go beyond simply transmitting events. It aims to turn news into knowledge, information into awareness, and events into context, while developing a media archive that documents Sudan’s current period for future generations.
The project also aspires to position NSNA as a professional window through which Sudan can communicate with the world, telling the stories of its cities, communities, and national issues while creating space for diverse voices to contribute to the country’s media landscape.
As the announced mid-September launch approaches, attention is turning to the completion of preparations and the official rollout of the platform. The New Sudan News Agency is expected to enter its operational phase under the leadership of Dr. Osama El-Mustafa, with a project that places professionalism, verification, technology, and knowledge production at the core of its media identity.
NSNA seeks to ensure that Sudanese news has a meaningful presence on the global media stage—not merely as a passing event, but as documented knowledge, a carefully constructed narrative, and a voice capable of reaching the world.
