Burkina Faso / SuiviVital: When a Burkinabe start-up revolutionises medical monitoring in Africa

Lost medical records, interrupted treatments, fragmented consultations: these daily challenges weigh heavily on patients, especially the most vulnerable. To address this reality, a Burkinabe startup called Hacking Group has developed SuiviVital an ambitious e‑health solution that digitizes part of the patient journey and restores continuity to care.

The idea came from a simple yet poignant observation. “When we noticed that even pregnant women and people living with chronic diseases such as cancer or diabetes often struggle to have their blood pressure or blood sugar checked, we set up SuiviVital,” explains Bienvenu Emmanuel Birba, co‑founder of the startup. Faced with this silent emergency, the answer could only be technological.

Concretely, SuiviVital allows patients to store their health parameters on a secure platform. Blood pressure, blood sugar, treatment history – all this vital data is now accessible with one click.

But the real innovation lies in connecting patients and doctors. Thanks to a digital medical record, healthcare professionals can monitor their patients remotely, track their progress, and adjust treatments without waiting for the next in‑person visit. This is a revolution for rural areas where access to care is often limited.

The platform centralizes medical information and makes it easier to keep track of consultations, treatments, and appointments.

It reduces the administrative burdens that clog up health facilities and discourage patients. For people living with chronic diseases, it’s a breath of fresh air: no more unnecessary back‑and‑forth, no more lost files, no more medical wandering.

SuiviVital is part of a broader movement  the rise of African healthtech solutions. As smartphones and mobile internet become widespread, new practices are emerging in connected health.

The Burkinabe startup is not only demonstrating technological innovation. It offers a concrete response tailored to the realities of the continent, for better prevention and more regular patient follow‑up.

In a Burkina Faso where the Popular Progressive Revolution has placed health at the heart of its priorities including the construction of 55 municipal health centers; initiatives like SuiviVital complement the healthcare offering with digital intelligence.

The future of African health is also being built on screens. And SuiviVital is one of its most promising embodiments.
