Togo’s Minister Dodzi Kokoroko launches Digitization Commission to boost ICT Integration in Education

Dodzi Kokoroko, Togo’s Minister of Higher Education and Research, has inaugurated a digitization commission with the goal of expediting the integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) into the higher education and research sector. This initiative follows nearly a decade after the formulation of the first sectoral plan addressing this matter.

The ten-member commission, representing the education sector, is tasked with defining a comprehensive strategy for implementing ICTs policies.

Within a three-month timeframe, the committee will conduct a thorough assessment, identifying existing infrastructure in schools, determining equipment needs (computers, tablets, etc.), and evaluating connectivity requirements.

The commission will also focus on designing and implementing an e-learning platform, facilitating remote access to educational resources and courses for students.

Additionally, it aims to establish partnerships with digital technology-focused companies or associations, as well as validating programs, assessments, or studies related to digitization.

Since 2014, Togo has been actively working towards advancing the digital transition in schools, establishing digital work environments in various institutions and collaborating with partners to enhance IT infrastructure.
