Togo: The Lomé International Conference on Financing from January 19 to 20, 2023

Togo is hosting the Lome International Conference on Financing from January 19 to 20, 2023. The event will bring together actors of the African economy around the financing of companies and major projects.

The work of this meeting, which is under the patronage of the Togolese President, will focus on several themes including access to corporate finance, alternative financing methods and the mobilization of capital within local investment vehicles. Participants will also consider the progress made in recent years by the economies of the countries represented at this meeting and will try to find solutions to the difficulties encountered by SMEs in access to finance. Several high-level personalities are expected to attend, including political leaders from Togo, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire and Congo, but also financial experts, entrepreneurs and lawyers.

Remember that Lomé hosted the second annual AFIS summit on November 28 and 29, 2022. The summit allowed African industry leaders to contribute to the economic recovery of the continent through the development of a competitive, innovative, inclusive and sustainable financial industry.

In his address to the actors of the economic and financial world, both public and private, the President of the Togolese Republic proposed mechanisms to meet the challenges of African financial systems.

For the Togolese Head of State, the structural transformation of the African financial industry requires a strengthened partnership between state and private sector actors, in which the role of the state must be decisive in improving the business climate.

“The future of Africa will be built on close collaboration between governments and the banking sector. First, the state must promote an attractive business environment. Whether it is a question of taxation, legal stability or administrative constraints, progress is considerable,” said President Faure Gnassingbé.
