Togo: EPULO, third edition

A simulation of an aircraft accident and a security incident will take place on December 1, 2022 at Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport (AIGE), as part of EPULO.

EPULO, is a full-scale security emergency exercise, initiated by the Lomé-Tokoin Airport Company (SALT). It “will take place from 7am to 10am and is likely to temporarily disrupt traffic around AIGE and cause a significant movement of rescue and fire vehicles,” said the Director of the National Civil Aviation Agency, Col Gnama Latta.

To this end, the General Directorate of SALT invites the population of Lomé in general and the citizens who live in the vicinity of the airport in particular to remain serene and not to panic, while facilitating the movement of emergency vehicles.

The operation called EPULO, in fact, is in its third edition. Several airport security actors including firefighters, medical team, gendarmes and other services will intervene during the exercise.

It aims, according to Col Gnama Latta, to “assess the responsiveness of the various responders in the event of a crisis situation on the airport platform, to better prepare them to deal with emergencies, in accordance with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization”.

As a reminder, work is being carried out at Lomé airport to further improve the regulatory system relating to safety, security and regularity.
