Taking advantage of the occasion, Ambassador Elizabeth Fitzsimmons announced two new investments aimed at supporting the efforts of Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé against food insecurity and in favor of people with disabilities.

The first funding, amounting to $3 million, is intended to combat foot insecurity. It will be allocated to local organizations in northern Togo that are working towards this goal. «We are pleased to announce the availability of three million dollars to help combat food insecurity in northern Togo», stated Fitzsimmons.

The second funding, valued at $1 million, will benefit people with disabilities and will be granted to the Togolese Federation of Associations of Disabled Persons (FETAPH). «Our goal is to strengthen the resilience of young people and women with disabilities, and to contribute to the inclusion and adaptation of this target group in the face of climate change», explained the ambassador.

These new investments demonstrate the continued commitment of the United States to Togo, she emphasized.

In her speech during the celebration, the American diplomat also reviewed the actions taken by the United States in Togo over the past year, expressing satisfaction with the support that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is about to provide to Togo. This funding will go towards the electricity and digital sectors.

The United States cooperates with Togo in other areas such as the military and healthcare. In the healthcare sector, the country of President Faure E.
