On Monday, May 6, the fashion world witnessed the grandest event known as the Met Gala in New York City
A multitude of celebrities graced the red carpet for the opening of the Costume Institute’s grand exhibition, with notable names like Serena Williams, basketball stars Angel Reese, Dwyane Wade, and Ben Simmons, as well as South African singer Tyla, showcasing their best attire under the theme “Gardens of Time.”
The official dress code this year was inspired by a JG Ballard story about a man who travels back in time by picking every flower in his garden until it becomes barren, leading to a plethora of floral and botanical looks.
Co-chaired by actress Zendaya, singer Jennifer Lopez, Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, and Latin singer Bad Bunny, this year’s edition accompanies the exhibition titled “Sleeping Beauties – Awakening Fashion.”
Since its launch in 1948, the Met Gala has been held on the first Monday of May, marking the opening of the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
The gala, which raises funds for the institute, has raised a total of $223.5 million since 1995.
