Military Cooperation: The AES fulfils its first mission

In the countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), consultations continue to advance the Sahel region along the paths outlined by the Burkinabe, Malian, and Nigerien presidents in creating the alliance. In the realm of military cooperation, the Chief of the General Staff of the Nigerien Armed Forces, Moussa Salaou Barou, and his Malian counterpart, Oumar Diarra, recently held discussions focusing on military cooperation within the AES.

Military cooperation against the security crisis in the Sahel remains a key objective of the alliance, which unites Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.

The visit of the Nigerien Brigadier General is part of the efforts to pool security resources to combat insecurity in the region, in line with the provisions of the Charter establishing the SSA, including envisaged military assistance.

The key takeaway from this meeting is that the leaders of the AES are engaged in planning military operations to consolidate security gains for the protection of people and their property.

A meeting of the defense and security chiefs of the AES is also scheduled to enhance coordination.

These shared visions among Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger serve to reinforce cooperation, solidarity, and the integration of peoples—principles that form the very essence of the  Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
