Mali/Social work/Lent: President Assimi GOÏTA lends his support to the Christian community

In a demonstration of support for the Christian community in Mali during the fasting and prayer period, the transitional president and head of state, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, has made a donation of food, specifically benefiting Catholic and Protestant Christians.

This gesture is part of the president’s solidarity program, emphasizing his commitment to allocate two-thirds of his sovereignty funds to support those in need.

Prior to this act for the Christian community, several other humanitarian gestures have been attributed to this presidential initiative, aiming to foster a spirit of solidarity and unity among all Malians.

Specifically, for the Catholic community, Cardinal Jean ZERBO of the archdiocese of Bamako received significant quantities of rice, oil, and pasta from the head of state, presented by the team responsible for implementing the social welfare program.

At the headquarters of the Association of Church Groups and Evangelical Protestant Missions in Mali (AGEMPEM), a similar donation was handed over to Reverend Pastor Dr. Nouh Ag Infa YATTARA by the head of state.

This initiative seeks not only to support Christians during challenging times but also to emphasize the importance of solidarity and the need to work together as sons and daughters of the same nation to restore peace and stability to the country.

The beneficiaries expressed their joy and gratitude for this generous gesture, which alleviates the hardships of the needy within the Christian community.

They also offered prayers and supplications for national peace and the success of the transition led by Colonel Assimi GOÏTA,
