Mali: President Assimi Goïta responds to a priority need with work on the N°9 and strategic roads in Kati

In a ceremony characterized by significant enthusiasm, Colonel Assimi Goïta, the  Mali transitional President, officially initiated the expansion project of National Road No. 9 (RR9) into a dual carriageway and the development of strategic lanes in Kati on February 1, 2024. Alongside government officials, the President ceremoniously commenced these endeavors aimed at enhancing road safety and fortifying transportation infrastructure within the region.

These efforts directly address the concerns arising from frequent traffic accidents on routes leading to Kati, particularly from Samé and the zoo vicinity.

President Goïta underscored the significance of this investment in the challenging context marked by counterterrorism efforts and the bolstering of Mali’s territorial sovereignty.

The transformation of RR9, connecting Bamako to Kati, stands as a comprehensive project intended to optimize traffic flow.

By placing a focus on the expansion of transportation infrastructure, the Transitional President underscores his dedication to fostering both internal and external connectivity and advancing the country’s development.

Beyond the enlargement of RR9, the project encompasses the establishment of an access ramp to Point G and the construction of 7 km of roads within the city of Kati.

These initiatives are designed to improve accessibility and daily commuting for local residents.

Madina Sissoko, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, highlighted the project’s response to structural needs, considering the congestion levels of the targeted roadways.

She emphasized President Goïta’s forward-looking vision for Mali’s development, even in the face of prevailing security challenges.

The ambitious strategy of President  Assimi Goïta , centered on development and connectivity, resonates positively with the local populace.

The anticipated outcomes of these initiatives, estimated at around 95 billion FCFA and entirely funded by the national budget, are poised to contribute to the country’s connectivity, stimulate trade, and generate new economic prospects.

In tandem with security-focused endeavors, President Goïta continues to assert his commitment to development, epitomizing his vision for a resilient and prosperous Mali.
