Guinea: President Mamadi Doumbouya promotes sports and welcomes the winners of the African Basketball Cup:

The young Guinean basketball players, due to their historic victory against Egypt in the U16 African Basketball Cup in Tunis, were greeted by an ecstatic crowd upon their return to Conakry at the end of the week.

At the Mohammed V Palace in Guinea, an emotional ceremony took place in the presence of President Mamadi Doumbouya, who received the victorious U16 African Basketball Cup winners.

The team’s captain, Gassimou Savané, presented the precious trophy and the final match ball to the Head of State, expressing the team’s gratitude for his support and warm welcome.

The Guinean Basketball Federation, represented by its president Sakoba Kéita, took the opportunity to pay a heartfelt tribute to the players and coaching staff for their courage and determination.

He emphasized the importance of President Mamadi Doumbouya’s presence, which demonstrates his commitment to the development of basketball in Guinea.

 In recognition of this historic achievement and to further promote the continuous development of the sport, the Federation’s President expressed the wish to construct a dedicated basketball hall, providing future generations the opportunity to thrive in this sport.

President Mamadi Doumbouya, on his part, congratulated the players, coaching staff, Federation, Ministry of Sports, and parents for their contributions to this success.

He reminded them that becoming champions was already a great achievement, but staying champions required even more effort.

Therefore, he encouraged the young athletes to remain united, perseverant, and always aspire to excellence in their sports practice, as serving their country is the ultimate pride.
