FC Barcelona grapples with injuries ahead of the classico and the clash against Shakhtar

In preparation for the match of Fc Barcelona against Shakhtar Donetsk in the third round of the Champions League, Xavi Hernandez addressed several key topics, including injuries, in a media conference. Despite leading Group H with two wins, Barcelona will face Shakhtar with several key players sidelined due to injuries and suspension.

Xavi mentioned that they won’t have the services of Roberto, Pedri, Frenkie, Raphinha, Lewandowski, Kounde, and Gavi, who is suspended for the upcoming match.

He expressed his concern over the injury situation, particularly with Pedri, stating that they want to avoid risking a relapse and the mental toll it might take on the player.

The team is dealing with various injuries but remains hopeful that at least one of them will recover in time for the weekend match.

Indeed, Barcelona is left with a mere dozen first-team players at their disposal for the upcoming match against the Ukrainian team.

This situation compels the coach to once again call upon players from the reserve and youth squads to complete the matchday roster.

Despite the circumstances, this approach proved effective in Barcelona’s recent La Liga match against Bilbao Athletic Club.

During that game, teenage striker Marc Guiu entered as a substitute and remarkably scored the winning goal just moments after stepping onto the field.
