Burkina-Faso: What do we understand in this UN commentary on the repulsed terrorist attack in Djibo?

What is the world coming to? The United Nations (UN), reacting to the attack on Djibo, which was valiantly repelled by the Defence and Security Forces, declared, and I quote: «the perpetrators of the attack must be held accountable after thorough, impartial and independent investigations by the authorities».

But what investigations is the spokesman for the UN human rights office, Seif Mangago, talking about?

The facts are there. Terrorist groups tried to lay siege to the town of Djibo in the north of Burkina Faso, and the army reacted swiftly to the criminals pouring in from all sides.

What «in-depth» investigation have the Burkina Faso authorities yet to carry out to determine who is «responsible»?

The UN, as an international peacekeeping and security institution, should strongly condemn this attack and congratulate and support the Burkinabe defence and security forces for having saved thousands of lives by repelling the jihadists’ assault and killing hundreds of these criminals.

Neither Burkina-Faso nor African public opinion need any «hasty» comments on the subject, but rather official statements of condemnation from the UN, the institution that guarantees peace in the world.

It would seem that the victory of the Burkina Faso army over the terrorists in Djibo is not to the liking of the UN or the entire international community.
