Burkina-Faso: The new president of the High council of Communication (CSC) officially takes office

On February 1, 2024, Idrissa Ouédraogo officially assumed the position of President of the Superior Council of Communication (CSC), following his appointment through a presidential decree on January 31, 2024. The inauguration ceremony, chaired by Prime Minister Me Appolinaire Kyélem de Tambèla, featured the presence of several dignitaries, including Captain Anderson Medah, the Director of the President’s Cabinet.

During his inaugural speech, Ouédraogo refrained from outlining a specific agenda, noting that actions would be adapted to unfolding events, considering the country’s ongoing crisis and the collaborative efforts to navigate through it.

The primary challenge of Ouédraogo’s mandate is to «define the professional realms of communication, collaboratively construct and safeguard them, and enhance their efficacy».

Ouédraogo, a communicator by profession, emphasized the practical application of communication rather than theoretical debates.

He expressed the opportunity to transform related professions into practical and pragmatic models, contributing tangibly to national development through a progressive narrative.

Replacing Abdoulazize Bamogo, who held the CSC presidency since 2022, Ouédraogo assumes a significant responsibility, as highlighted by his predecessor.

Bamogo reminded Ouédraogo that decisions made by the council would wield substantial influence over the communication sector and the nation as a whole.

It’s worth noting that Idrissa Ouédraogo has been appointed for a 5-year term as the new president of the CSC.
