Burkina Faso: Samuel Eto’o was received in audience by Captain Ibrahim Traoré
Samuel Eto’o, President of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), was received in audience by the Burkinabe Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, on Monday, May 29, 2023.
Samuel Eto’o, who was visiting Ouagadougou at the invitation of the President of the Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF) to attend the final of the Coupe du Faso, discussed football promotion during the meeting with the Transitional President.
« I was pleasantly surprised to see that His Excellency the Transitional President closely follows football, especially considering his busy schedule. I would like to thank him for all the efforts made to ensure that Burkinabe football is in the position it deserves», said the former Real Madrid player.
After the meeting, the former Cameroonian international didn’t miss the opportunity to congratulate the Burkinabe Stallions for qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2023).
He hopes for a qualification for his own country but doesn’t want the Indomitable Lions to face the “brotherly country” of Burkina Faso.
«Burkina Faso will practically be playing at home, and there will be a lot of pressure as they will likely have full and supportive stadiums. We need to be cautious of the Burkinabe team because they are already a good team», he added.
In a reminder, Etoile Filante de Ouagadougou (EFO) won the 36th edition of the Coupe du Faso by defeating Salitas FC with a score of 3-0 on Sunday, May 28, at the Issoufou Joseph Conombo Municipal Stadium.
This is the 14th trophy won by the team, which is nicknamed the Queen of the Stadium.
It should be noted that the Transitional President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, attended the match and kicked off the game.
