Burkina Faso: Light ministerial reshuffle / The Head of State creates a new ministry in charge of animal resources

The Head of State, Ibrahim Traoré, carried out a slight reshuffle of the transitional government on Tuesday 10 January 2023. This reshuffle marks the departure and entry of two new faces in the government team.

According to a decree read out on Burkina Faso’s national television by the Secretary General of the Government and of the Council of Ministers, Jacques Sosthène Dingara, Boubacar Savadogo has been appointed Minister in charge of youth, replacing Issouf Sirima.

Dr. Amadou Dicko, also makes his entry into the executive. He is appointed to the newly created position of Minister Delegate for Animal Resources.
Many observers welcome the creation and appointment of Dr. Amadou Dicko, to manage the department of animal resources.
We have chosen to linger a bit on the biography of this renowned veterinarian, who previously held the position of Director of Data Management and Valorization at the National Public Health Laboratory.
This native of Dori, in the Sahel region, is an expert in animal resources. He holds a master’s degree in computer science and medical information systems. He earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine at the Inter-State School of Veterinary Sciences and Medicine in Senegal.

He has a solid professional experience.

Since 2020, he is a facilitator for Introduction to Bioinformatics Training at Nazi Boni University and a temporary lecturer in bioinformatics at the Virtual University of Burkina. He is also a teacher in zoonotic diseases, since 2018.
Dr. Amadou Dicko is co-author of several scientific publications, and recognized for his involvement in the associative life. He is the bioinformatics manager of the Burkinabe Society of Medical Information and also vice-president of the association One Health Burkina.
The new Minister Delegate to the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fisheries, in charge of animal resources, has a perfect command of French and English.
This is the second time in three months that Captain Ibrahim Traoré has changed ministers since he came to power. The first reshuffle took place on November 9, with the ejection of the Ministers of Trade, Donatien Nagolo, and Urban Planning, Yacouba Dié.
With this new reshuffle, the number of ministerial portfolios increases from 23 to 24.
