Burkina Faso: Imam Cheick Ismael Deme called on the terrorists to leave their wrong path by dropping their arms

Imam Cheick Ismael Demé, has called on those who have resorted to violence in Burkina Faso to abandon their weapons, as they are on the incorrect path.

« I’m pleased with the army’s progress and called and I urge the armed forces to come together and work towards better defending Burkina Faso. I also call on those who have taken up arms against the country to give up their weapon», expressed this professor of Islamic wisdom and western philosophy.

According to Imam Cheick Ismael Demé, a holy war is not intended to kill others but to protect oneself.

He stated that «Jihadism, which refers to a holy war in Arabic, is not what those who resort to violence in Burkina Faso are engaging in».

Instead, he believes that it is the regular troops who are fighting a holy war.

So, Imam Cheick Ismael Demé requested that journalists refrain from using the term “jihadists” to describe the terrorists.

« I encourage the youth to have patience and the religious authorities to provide their blessings, so that the government can make the correct decisions», exhorted the imam

The religious leader stated that it is his community’s responsibility to offer blessings to the youth and the wider society, in order to bring about peace in Burkina Faso.

He also recommended that all citizens of Burkina Faso show respect towards each other, irrespective of their religious beliefs.

Furthermore, the Imam emphasized that if a wise person who governs with integrity is given power by God, the country will prosper.

However, if someone who is only concerned with their own interests holds power, it will result in suffering for all.

Cheick Ismael Demé has urged people to pray for peace to be established in Burkina Faso, an end to poverty, and for a joyful celebration once the conflict is resolved.

«Although this war has been forced upon them, they will overcome it with God’s help, the blessings of believers, and the bravery of the fighters», he stated in conclusion.
