Burkina-Faso: Burkina Faso’s Foreign Minister meets OCHA to discuss humanitarian and security challenges

Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs met with Gemma CONNELL, Head of the Evaluation, Planning and Monitoring Service of OCHA-Geneva, to discuss the security and humanitarian challenges facing Burkina Faso.

She expressed her gratitude to the UN and OCHA for their actions in the country, notably the assessment of the humanitarian situation and the mobilisation of bilateral and multilateral partners to help the populations affected by the crisis.

However, she stressed that funding for the Humanitarian Response Plan remains insufficient, with only 26% of the necessary funds received.

She called for OCHA’s role as the voice of humanitarian action in Burkina Faso to be maintained.

The Minister reaffirmed Burkina Faso’s commitment to promoting respect for international humanitarian law and to strengthening its cooperation with OCHA and other humanitarian actors to guarantee their security and facilitate the accomplishment of their missions in the field.
