Burkina Faso: Arrest of Idrissa Diallo, a leading terrorist recruiter

The Burkinabe security forces have achieved a significant breakthrough in their fight against terrorism by apprehending Idrissa Diallo, also known as Abou Youssoufa, a key recruiter operating in the Central-East region of the country. This arrest, widely publicized, marks a crucial step in Burkina Faso’s ongoing efforts to neutralize terrorist groups active in the region.

Hailing from Guildjèga in the Bittoua commune of the Central-East region, Idrissa Diallo joined terrorist armed groups in 2018.

Since then, he has played a central role in recruiting new members for terrorist cells, particularly in the Eastern and Central-Eastern regions.

The arrest is significant as Idrissa Diallo is suspected of orchestrating several attacks on villages along the Bittou-Cinkanssé axis.

His actions have contributed to spreading terror among local populations, exacerbating the instability already present in the region due to terrorist violence.

Local media have highlighted Diallo’s major role as an influential recruiter and organizer of terrorist operations.

His arrest represents a major blow to terrorist groups seeking to expand their influence over Burkina Faso’s territory.

Burkinabe authorities reaffirm their commitment to continue dismantling anyone involved in supporting or carrying out terrorist activities.

This arrest demonstrates the government’s determination to confront the terrorist threat firmly, working closely with national and international security forces to ensure the security and stability of Burkina Faso and its citizens.
