Bolstering Burkina Faso’s Economic Landscape: decisive steps in industrial development and job creation

In Burkina Faso, on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, the weekly Council of Ministers ceremony, presided over by His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of the Burkinabe Revolution, witnessed the adoption of pivotal decisions aimed at fortifying the nation’s industrial and economic development.

Under the guidance of the Ministry of Industrial Development, Trade, Handicrafts, and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, several decisive decrees were enacted, showcasing the government’s unwavering commitment to rejuvenating the industrial sector and fostering employment opportunities for the Burkinabe youth.

The initial decree heralds the establishment of the mixed-economy entity, Marena Gold Refinery of Burkina Faso, commonly known as «MARENA RAFFINOR-BF SA».

This visionary initiative seeks to institute a local gold refining industrial unit, adding substantial value to raw gold and catalyzing employment growth within the Burkinabe populace.

By procuring, processing, and selling raw gold, the refinery aligns itself with the overarching goal of solidifying the economic sovereignty of the country.

The second decree focuses on the inception of the mixed-economy venture, Textile of the armed Forces of Burkina Faso, succinctly abbreviated as “TEX FORCES-BF.”

Entrusted with the responsibility of producing and marketing professional uniforms for the military, paramilitary, and civilian sectors, this strategic move aims to invigorate the national textile industry while precisely addressing the distinctive needs of the nation’s defense and security forces.

The culmination of these decisions is marked by the third decree, endorsing the statutes of the TEX FORCES-BF company, equipping it to adeptly fulfil its missions in accordance with prevailing legislation.

These pronounced measures signify a momentous stride in Burkina Faso’s economic and industrial development strategy, underscoring the government’s dedication to job creation and the empowerment of its citizens.

By fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors, these pioneering enterprises are poised to elevate the competitiveness of the Burkinabe economy, promising a prosperous future for the entire populace.
