Apple advises against using rice to dry wet iPhones, recommends alternative approach

Apple has cautioned against the common practice of using rice to dry wet iPhones. Despite its popularity, experts have long expressed doubts about the efficacy of this technique.

Apple’s guidance indicates that using rice could lead to small particles damaging the device.

Instead, the company recommends users gently tap out any liquid, ensuring the phone connector faces down, and then leave it to dry.

Additionally, Apple advises against using external heat sources, compressed air, or inserting foreign objects into the phone.

The guidance suggests leaving the phone in a dry area with airflow before reconnecting it to a charger.

While newer smartphones are increasingly water-resistant, this advice remains pertinent for devices without such capabilities.
